While living in Amsterdam I became fascinated by the rich art history of the Netherlands, especially its iconic depictions of flowers and nature.

The city’s more synthetic, acid-tinged party scene stood in stark contrast to this natural beauty. This contradiction sparked the idea for a still life project, where I photographed Dutch flowers set against the reflective, glossy surfaces of nightclub interiors.

Using harsh flash, I amplified the shine and texture of these artificial environments, creating a tension between the organic and the synthetic. The goal was to evoke a sense of abstraction. Each image became like a portrait of the individual flower.
